Actions

Each month we share a well-researched campaign action with our grassroots network. Our action materials include the context of the campaign, additional information, tips and guidance. The 'call to action' each month is often to write to, and engage with MPs and Government Ministers. Who you write to depends on who RESULTS UK policy and parliamentary teams think we can influence the most! We have guides available to help you take these actions. To receive our campaigns and updates, subscribe to our mailing list.

This month we’ve got lots of actions for you to take! As the dust settles from the election, the new Government’s key decision-makers on global poverty issues have been announced and next month, we’ll be asking you to join a brand new campaign with us. But for this month, we’ve got lots of different actions we want you to take:

4 Jun 2015

The General Election campaign was a long one; six months of trying to engage candidates on our work and establishing relationships with them before the new Parliament formation. A massive thank you and congratulations to all of you who took action throughout the campaign and spread the word about the importance of UK leadership on International Development!

1 May 2015

Development campaigners in the UK last month received possibly the most exciting news for the past 45 years: spending 0.7% of UK national income on overseas aid has now become law after Parliament passed the ‘International Development (Official Development Assistance Target) Act’!

2 Apr 2015

We’re now just two months away from a life-changing election, one which will affect all of us for years to come. This month, we’re focussing on hustings! Hustings are a chance for you – constituents, voters - to ask all the local candidates standing to be your MP questions in a public setting, to help you make up your minds who you agree with and who to vote for on election day.

3 Mar 2015

In order to secure UK leadership in the fight to end extreme poverty, now is the time to start building those all-important relationships between you, as constituents, taxpayers and voters, and the people who are seeking to represent you. Your actions will form the basis of the vital personal connections you can build on post-election with your newly elected MP. Meeting with candidates before the election is crucial to fulfilling the opportunity 2015 represents and making this year the year of action to end poverty and tackle climate change.

5 Feb 2015

2015 could be a pivotal year for ending global poverty. At the national level, of course we have the UK General Election in May. At the global level, world leaders will be negotiating a new set of Post-2015 ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ to replace the Millennium Development Goals. There’s never been a better opportunity to secure action to realise our goal of a world free from poverty within a generation.

7 Jan 2015

2015 is a huge year for our collective future, nationally and globally. In the UK the General Election will mark the beginning of a new Parliament while at the global level, the new set of goals and targets that will replace the Millennium Development Goals will be finalised and agreed upon at the UN, with the Governments of the world signing up to enact them over the next 15 years.

3 Dec 2014

As we detailed last month, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is currently approaching a replenishment conference at which it will be asking developing and donor country Governments, businesses, and civil society organisations to help them fund their incredible work over the next five years. Over that period, Gavi is seeking to immunise 440 million more children, saving 6 million lives.

12 Nov 2014

Established in 2000 to expand access to immunisation in the world’s poorest countries, Gavi with support of its donors and partners is working to ensure no child in the world is denied their right to immunisation and the chance of a healthy life.

17 Oct 2014

On September 12th, we have an historic opportunity to make our secure the future of UK aid spending. That day, MP's will be voting on Michael Moore MP's Private Member's Bill which seeks to enshrine our commitment to spending 0.7% of our Gross National Income on Overseas Aid. On the day, we need to make sure that 100 supportive MPs are in the chamber and voting - we're working hard with our partners from across the sector to ensure that MP's know that they have to be there.
